A Personal Relationship
When God created man He never intended for us to be in the state we are in today. If you haven’t noticed our world is on a collision course with destruction and no-one seems to care. Young people living so fast and hard, some say reckless, that whatever they run into it doesn’t matter because they’re not going to know about it anyway. Surely that’s not it, a collision course and recklessness so hard we won’t care. That’s a hopeless course but not the only one on offer. There are people today hoping there is more and there is. Now we won’t preach religion rather relationship and that with the Son of the Creator, Jesus.
Jesus, because of our reckless behaviour came to this earth 2000 years ago to redeem that which was lost, us. The bible calls our reckless behaviour, sin and it’s a problem when it comes to having a relationship with God. The bible says that sin separates us from God, leaving a void, a sense of loneliness and no relationship. "All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God" (Romans 3:23).
However, the bible teaches us that, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16)." God gave His very Son to die in our place. As the Apostle Paul said, "He loved me and gave Himself for me...(Galatians 2:20).
This is good news because it tells us there is hope and a new course if you chose to take it. And that is what one has to do, choose. Seems to be a hard choice for many as it involves change. Choosing a relationship that offers hope and gives eternal life seems to be smart but this isn’t an academic thing, this is as real as it gets. There is a part of you today that wants the void filled and that can only be done by choosing Jesus and entering into a relationship with Him.
To do that you need to "repent and be converted (Acts 3:19)." The word "repent" means to change our direction in life. Instead of running from God, we run toward Him. No collision course here just the need to change vehicles.
Receive Jesus Christ into your life.
Becoming a Christian is not merely believing some creed or going to church on Sunday. It is for an individual, a personal relationship with Jesus rather than a religious act. This means calling upon Jesus and having Him take residence in your heart and life. Jesus said, "Behold, I stand at the door [of your life] and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in... (Revelation 3:20).
What to Pray
Dear Lord Jesus,
I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe in and thank you for your death on the cross, which paid for my sins. I want to repent and turn from my sins. So I now invite You to come into my heart and life. I want you to be my Lord, and to trust and follow You as Lord and Savior. As I read the Bible and seek Christian fellowship, help me to become the kind of person You want me to be. In Jesus' name.
Amen
